Barbican

The Barbican Centre hosts a wide range of events in its theatres, cinemas and concert hall. Wheelchair access is quite good and there is free parking for orange badge holders; guide dogs are welcome and can stay with their owners.

Ocean

Ocean, in Hackney - hosts events across the full spectrum of music, including a cappella, African, bhangra, blues, classical, hip hop, indie, jazz, latin, reggae, rap, r'n'b, rock, pop, soul ... The building, which holds three different sized venues, is wheelchair accessible with disabled toilets throughout its five floors. There is also an InfraRed system, which allows hearing aid users high quality amplification of sound, and the partially sighted to tune into another channel for audio descriptions. One of the major events this summer is Evelyn Glennie's ' Shadow Tour'. The magnificent percussionist who is also profoundly deaf, will play new tour material (Tue 10 July). Also at Ocean is The Beautiful Octopus Club, a vibrant club event run by and for people with learning difficulties (28 June, contact the venue for further details).

Royal Opera House

The fabulous refurbished Royal Opera House, home to the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet, offers good access for disabled people. There is a drop off point at the Bow Street entrance and wheelchair spaces in the main auditorium and studios. As well as evening performances, the Floral Hall of the House is open to the public daily and there are tours of the building. Highlights for this summer include the Kirov Ballet and Opera and Swan Lake and Coppelia performed by the Royal Ballet.
