Ketel One Espresso Martini Garden Bar

The Instagram favourite becomes a month-long pop-up bar with a sustainable message.

Instagram favourite B&H Buildings just got even more photogenic. Lush botanicals, succulents and hanging houseplants have transformed the private dining room into an urban oasis for the month-long pop-up Espresso Martini Garden Bar. Bourne and Hollingsworth has teamed up with Ketel One for the pop-up with a sustainable message. Highlighting he 500,000 tonnes of used coffee grounds sent to landfill each year, the pop-up's old coffee grains will be donated to natural and organic skincare brand UpCircle. Classic and quirky takes on the espresso martini include an indulgent Chocolate Orange Espresso Martini and a Nutty Espresso Martini, with decaf options also available. Sign up for a masterclass with Julius Roberts, the gardener behind popular Instagram account @telltalefood, and you'll not only get advice on a more sustainable way of living but also an expert-led cocktail class and a limited edition evergreen houseplant to take home.

Backyard Cinema sets up a permanent new home, transforming a former TV studios into a 250-seat cinema.

For years they've been running successful, themed film-focused pop ups. Now Backyard Cinema sets up a permanent new home at Capital Studios, transforming a former 1960's TV studios in Wandsworth into a 250-seat cinema. Their biggest project to date, the new site launches in September 2019 by returning to a favourite theme, 'The Winter Night Garden'. Step through a magical wardrobe to discover an enchanted forest and see sing-a-longs and old film favourites including Aladdin, Rocketman, Harry Potter, True Romance, Dirty Dancing, The Greatest Showman and Moulin Rouge, all from the comfort of a giant bean bag. Offering an all-day and night hangout, the cinema is surrounded by a large studio bar, heated outdoor courtyard with feasting tables, food by Honest Burgers and Mother Clucker, vegan ice cream and live music on weekends. They're also planning to add karaoke booths and theatrical cocktail experiences. Part of the Ram Quarter development at the old Young's Brewery site in Wandsworth, the cinema is surrounded by new homes, shops and restaurants.

 
 
 

Queen of Hoxton Rooftop: The Emerald City

The east London rooftop takes inspiration from The Wizard of Oz for its autumn 2019 residency.

Follow the yellow brick road up to The Queen of Hoxton Rooftop this winter for its latest pop-up extravaganza, The Emerald City. Transforming the east London rooftop into a world of green, complete with green beer, The Wizard of Oz themed residency provides the chance to feast on Kansas style food, toast marshmallows on fire pits and sip on emerald-tinted cocktails at a hidden bar. The WigWam has been re-erected for the occasion, this time morphing into a bewitching green den, and the venue's walls have been decorated with glistening emerald jewels. The food menu features a Green Witch Veggie Burger, Kansas Beef Pot Roast and Munchkin Pumpkin Pot Roast while drinks include Bad *itch Hot Chocolate, Pumpkin Spiced Mulled Cider and an Emerald Bellini. A programme of suitably-themed events include a Wicked Witches storytelling evening with Giles Abbott and an Emerald City Silent Disco.

Sticking to its namesake, which stands for Social, Fun & Games, the SFG Club returns to Roof East this winter for the ultimate East End knees up. Bringing all the best elements of a traditional local boozer to a sky-high east London rooftop, the winter season offers pub quizzes every Wednesday, musical bingo every Thursday and live music on Fridays and Saturdays. The Hops on Top tent provides the chance to sample a menu of 50 beers from microbreweries around the world while Saturday Tasting Sessions include whisky, gin, tequila and mezcal. Classic British pub snacks such as scampi fries, pork scratchings and Worcester sauce crisps will feature on the food menu and there's also a selection of street food from Jimmy's, Kolkati and Eat Chay. The club's popular curling shuffleboard, bowling and crazy golf also make a return as well as old school video games - think Pac-Man and Space Invaders - foosball, tabletop skittles, virtual reality table foosball and British pub favourite, a pool table.

 
 
 

John Lewis Rooftop: The Winter Carnival

Boasting one of the largest rooftop gardens in London, John Lewis Oxford Street makes full use of the space with The Winter Carnival, placing curling lanes, fairground horses, bumper cars, street food stalls and a cocktail bar high above London's most famous street. Created in partnership with Philips Hue and Google, there's the chance to have a go on the Google Claw Machine where Google Nest products and a Google Pixel phone are available to win while the mounted Google Pixel means guests can capture photos of their curling game any time of day or night. Philips Hue, meanwhile, have helped to transform the rooftop dens into the House of Mirrors, House of Lights and the House of Fortune - customisable colourful escapes that are available for groups to hire. Jimmy Garcia joins in on the carnival fun by serving an American-style feast of popcorn shrimp and loaded corn dogs at The Carnival Diner and Background Bars present a menu of winter warmers at the bar.

Dine in your own personal snow globe alongside the Thames this winter. The four private dining domes are part of Jimmy's Lodge On The River, created by Jimmy Garcia of Jimmy's Pop Ups fame. Serving a set menu which includes a trio of canapes followed by traditional Alpine fondue and the option of Cote de Boeuf to share, these snow globes are the ideal alternative option for a group get-together or a staff Christmas meal. An alpine foodie retreat, Jimmy's Lodge also serves a fondue menu at 'The Refuge', upstairs in the first-floor restaurant. In addition, there's a more accessible grab-and-go menu from the Winter Grill downstairs, so you can eat as you stroll along, taking in the winter market and views over the river.

From the end of September 2019, Skylight, the rooftop hangout offering three floors of bars, street food, games and entertainment above Tobacco Dock, gets cosy with blankets and heaters brought out for its autumn season. The focus is on world beer, ciders and pumpkins as HarvestFest lines up Hay Bale Skittles, horseshoes and apple-draughts as part of the seasonal games. Cocktails made with apples, blackberries and pears are warmed with autumnal spices while street food stalls on the lower level serve food during the day, including a bottom-less Prosecco brunch. Regular DJ nights, parties and ticketed events include a scarily good Halloween celebration, screenings of the Rugby World Cup and Dog Day which returns on Sunday 15th September 2019. Bring your four-legged friend for treats, cocktails and prizes to be won.

Following on from last year's Divine Proportions, Shotgun Carousel return to The Vaults with another immersive experience, this time presenting Red Palace. Inspired by the carnivals of Venice, the narratives of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen, and the tales of Edgar Allan Poe, the evening offers an intoxicating mix of cabaret, circus, dance and genre-defying performance, all accompanied by a menu courtesy of Masterchef semi-finalist Annie McKenzie. Guests are invited join The Prince and other fairy tale characters in a Gothic masked ball within the walls of the Red Palace. Don't expect your typical fairy tale sweethearts, however; watch out for assassins, alchemists and prophetesses as you journey into a world of glamour, danger and elegance.

New for 2019, Doktoberfest transformers a former riverside warehouse into Munich style Bierkeller. Half a million pounds has been lavished on this beer festival at a brand new venue called Dock X at London's Docklands. Over 100 traditional bench tables are set up to welcome as many as 1,500 people to the beer tavern, draped in a Bavarian blue and white with a live music stage, DJ booth and with circus performances from risque cabaret artists including German aerial gymnast Bath Boy. Over 20,000 people are expected to attend and over 70,000 pints of premium Erdinger Beer will be quaffed during the festival. As well as long bars serving beer, cocktails and champagne you'll find food stalls selling traditional Bavarian cuisine including the world-famous Bratwurst sausages. Entrance price includes with a free litre stein of beer or opt for the special VIP ticket and you'll get complimentary food and drink. Special events include Oktoberfest on 12th October a Halloween party on 31st October and a celebration of the Day of the Dead on 2nd November.

The sky-high igloos return to the Aviary terrace this year, taking the theme Skye-line Igloos in partnership with award-winning spirit Talisker Whisky from the Isle of Skye. Sitting 10 floors above the City, the high-altitude winter pop-up immerses visitors from the offset with each igloo decorated in natural and nautical elements to reflect Taliskerâ%u20AC%u2122s Scottish homeland. Blankets and snug rugs are available to help guests get cosy while an exclusive menu of wild whisky cocktails provide a boozy winter warmer. Guests can sip on the spicy and citrusy Scotch Mist, the fruity and smoky Northern Lights and the ultimate hot toddy, the Talisker Campfire Hot Chocolate.
