Come and meet the awesome 18ft Michelangelo's David! The Cast Courts are two of the most spectacular galleries in the Museum but did you know that they do not contain what is regarded as 'real' objects but are devoted to 'reproductions'! Most of the Cast Courts are plaster cast and the collection was assembled for the benefit of art students who at the time were seldom able to travel abroad. The Casts now serve as a precious record as many original objects have since been destroyed or damaged.

The 20th Century Gallery

From the revolutionary German 1900's Bauhaus movement to the wild and wacky plastic 'inflatable' products by young trendy design team 'Inflate'.
Many of the items on display are unique objects or were made in only limited editions. These are displayed alongside others that were designed to respond to the ever expanding needs of the consumer mass market.

The Dress Gallery covers over 400 years of European fashionable dress from the mid-sixteenth century to the present day. Compare fashions of the past with fashionable designers of the present including Christian Dior, Issey Miyake and Vivienne Westwood.
