Ensuring you start the new year with a smile on your face, The Comedy Store is once again hosting a New Year's Eve Stand Up extravaganza this year. Hosting not one but two parties - one at 6pm and one at 9.30pm - you can choose between kicking your evening off with some laughter so you have a spring in your step for later plans, or opt for the later show and see in 2017 as you mean to go on. Comedians taking to the stage are Felicity Ward, Jeff Innocent, Tom Lucy and MC Mandy Knight. Guests at the later show will also be treated to a post-show DJ and dancing until late.

Bring some 19th century glamour into your night of celebration with The Magic of Vienna, taking place in the prestigious Barbican Hall. The evening brings to life the giddy romance and gilded ballrooms of old Vienna through the music of the Strauss dynasty, whose prolific output of waltzes and polkas entertainment Viennese high society throughout the 19th century. The Johann Strauss Dancers and Orchestra will perform in costumes of the period to a programme of Wine, Women and Song, Vienna, City of my Dreams, the Blue Danube Waltz and Radetsky March. Offering a real life Strictly Come Dancing experience, it gives a great excuse to dress up in classical gowns and tuxedos.


New Year's Eve at The Ritz

If money is no object, Londoners can book in for New Year's Eve at The Ritz, where, for one night only, The Palm Court will transform into a beacon of revelry. Guaranteeing a night to remember, the glamorous 1920s themed black tie event will bring together dining, entertainment and bubbles a plenty. Guests will be treated to a four-course meal created by Executive Chef John Williams MBE, with dishes include native lobster with carrot and cardamom puree, breast of partridge with beetroot and mushroom puree, and chocolate delice with orange. The meal also includes a glass of Krug Champagne. Entertainment comes from Elle and The Pocket Belles, singing vintage swing and modern say classics; The Lone Piper, offering the traditional sounds of bagpipes; and a 14-piece military marching band, who will escort you into The Ritz Restaurant for the after-party. At midnight you'll be invited to enjoy a fireworks display over the garden to herald in the New Year before dancing the night away to a live 10-piece band. There is also the option to dine in the Michelin-starred Ritz Restaurant, where you can enjoy a six-course menu, half a bottle of Krug Champagne and live entertainment.

Adding some spice to the Christmas outings on offer, Black Cat Cabaret is a decadent and otherworldly show that is guaranteed to enthral audiences. Now being staged in a Belgian Spiegeltent in Leicester Square's central garden for Christmas, the show welcomes guests into a weird and wonderful, glamorous and extravagant world that's a descendant of the legendary Le Chat Noir Club in Paris. Using the absinthe-soaked heydey of Montmartre's dark cabaret underworld as inspiration, the show boasts an intriguing carnival of street singers and mad musicians, acrobats, dancers and illusionists, delirious comics and exotic artistes. A special extended show will also take place on New Year's Eve, with the show and a ball until 2am.

100 Wardour presents Cirque d'Soho this New Year's Eve, celebrating the occasion with jugglers, contortionists, acrobats, stilt walkers and a few more surprises. The Fellas will provide the live music, performing the hottest jams from the nineties and noughties with their soulful vocals, slick raps and soaring horns while further entertainment comes from The Gents, Per Pedersen and Jamie Walker. Guests also have the option of booking in for dinner, with a menu of dishes such as roast monkfish with spiced aubergine and red lentil vinaigrette; fillet of beef with braised ox cheeks, glazed heritage carrots and shallot; and roast duck with wild mushroom, chestnut and confit leg casserole and pickled wild cherry. Choose between an early seating (5.30pm-7.30pm) for 65 per person or the main seating (7.45pm-10.30pm) for 130.

Since finding a permanent home at the Bloomsbury Ballroom, the London Cabaret Club have wowed audiences week after week with their shows and New Year's Eve will be no different with a special Masquerade Ball. A decadent evening, it promises entertainment beyond your wildest dreams with choreography by the London Cabaret Club cast as well as fire breathers, aerialists, contortionists and more. There is also the option of a dining ticket which will provide guests with a three or four course dinner of cuisine from around the world.
