Everybody has fond childhood memories of visiting Santa's grotto for the very first time. This Christmas you can treat your kids to the same, as Santa takes time out from his busy schedule to make several important grotto appearances throughout London.

Father Christmas at the Royal Albert Hall

Help Father Christmas find enough Christmas Spirit to fuel his sleigh.

With his sleigh parked at the Royal Albert Hall but not enough Christmas Spirit to fuel it, Father Christmas needs your help. Join the other Little Helpers and Santa's magical friends from the North Pole to help collect enough so he can fly his sleigh on Christmas Eve. Promising to be one of the most unique and theatrical Father Christmas experiences in London, it will see children and their families taken on an interactive journey through enchanted spaces within the Hall, guided by magical characters such as the mystical Snow Queen, before meeting the big man himself. There will be games, storytelling and songs and every child will have the chance to meet Father Christmas one-to-one and receive a present.

Children hear a festive fairytale in an 'audience with' Father Christmas.

Part of Christmas in Leicester Square, when Underbelly's spiegeltent and a Christmas Market are set up, Santa's Grotto comes to the very heart of London. Children can meet the man in red in person and tell him what's top of their wish list. They'll hear a festive fairytale, sit on Father Christmas's knee, meet his helpers, and receive a gift. Sessions are for groups of up to 20 children and are up to 25 minutes long and the beauty, for parents at least, is the ticket is per child, with up to two accompanying adults. Babies under two can accompany for free but will not receive a gift.

Always a hugely popular outing for west London families at this time of year, Father Christmas and His Huskies will be at WWT London Wetland Centre on the first weekend of December. Children can take a ride on a donkey, with the donkeys dressed up in their Christmas finery, hop on a sleigh to be pulled along by the huggable huskies and help the elves make festive decorations or small gifts to take home. Head over to the northern pine forest where Father Christmas will be ready to welcome families in his cosy grotto among the trees, and don't forget to leave time to stroll among the lakes, meadows and ponds of this wonderful 105-acre wildlife oasis in Barnes.

 
 
 

Winter Wonderland Christmas Grotto

Take some time out from all of the whacky and wonderful rides to visit Santa.

Throughout late November and December a section of Hyde Park near Hyde Park Corner is transformed into a Winter Wonderland, complete with fairground rides, giant wheel, circus, Christmas market, food and drink stalls, an ice rink and, of course, Santa's grotto. Start your day of fun and games by heading into Santa Land to greet Father Christmas in his beautiful retreat for free. There to tell the kids all about Lapland and his little helpers, Santa will be on site every day from 10am to 6pm. And if the Grotto isn't what all of your kids want to see, there's the Magical Ice Kingdom, a walk-through world of ice and snow with woodland creatures and a unicorn-pulled carriage.

Santa's Snowflake Grotto at Westfield London and at Stratford City brings a brand new festive experience for families, taking them on a journey to the spellbinding Snow Factory in the North Pole, where Santa's elves are making all the snow in the world. While in the factory, children will be able to create their very own snowflake and visit Father Christmas in his Snow Cavern. Every child will receive a gift from the big man in red and have a photo taken, before concluding the experience with the chance to experience falling snow.

Take the little ones to Meet Santa at ZSL London Zoo this Christmas, where his grotto is packed with pine trees and decked out for the season. On weekends in December and in the week leading up to Christmas, visitors can join in with arts and crafts with Mrs Claus and chat with the elves before meeting Santa and getting an early Christmas gift. For a VIP experience, you can join Santa and his elves before the zoo opens, enjoy a reindeer talk with the zoo's presenter and has breakfast with Mrs Claus in the Terrace Restaurant.

Luckily, there will be the chance to Meet Father Christmas at Hamleys this December, with every child getting the opportunity to spend time with him and receive a special gift bag to take home. His elves will also be on hand to keep visitors entertained with fun, magic and theatre. There will be magical stories of Christmas, the chance to write a Christmas wish list and some delicious Scrumpalicious pick and mix sweets, all to be enjoyed while surrounded by some of the finest toys in the world.

This Christmas, travel back in time at the Museum of London and Museum of London Docklands with the Victorian Santa's Grotto. Both grottos will be set in traditional Victorian streets with festive decorations while traditional carols will add to the atmosphere. Tell Santa your Christmas wishes and receive a special gift, and you can also get a photograph of your child and Father Christmas (for an additional cost). A one-hour cruise down the Thames with Santa.

City Cruises invites you to meet Santa while sailing down the Thames this Christmas. During the one-hour cruise from Tower Pier the adults will be able to enjoy mulled wine and mince pies while children will get to meet Santa in his living room, with each of them receiving a special gift.
