Cooking is all the rage in the UK at the moment. TV and magazines are full of celebrity chefs entertaining and wowing their growing audience with their culinary skills. To tempt your tastebuds, we've put together a list of the restaurants of 7 celebrity chefs in London:
Antony Worrall-Thompson Brian Turner Gordon Ramsay Jamie Oliver Ken Hom Marco-Pierre White Michel Roux Wiz (Antony Worrall-Thompson)
123a Clarendon Road London W11 Telephone: 020 7229 1500 Brick walls and big wooden tables greet you at the bubbly chef's latest venture in West London. The menu has an international flavour and the idea is to pick a variety of dishes round around the globe and share 'tapas-style' with your companion! Turner's (Brian Turner)
87/87 Walton Street London SW3 2HP Telephone: 020 7584 6711 The intimate surroundings of Turner's make it the perfect location for a quiet dinner for two. The French cuisine is superb and served with the style and flourish of the eponymous chef. The décor feels French with an English country twist, which creates a relaxing and welcoming environment. Gordon Ramsay (Gordon Ramsay)
68-69 Royal Hospital Road London SW3 Telephone: 020 7352 4441 For the well-heeled, this small restaurant serving haute cuisine, is notoriously difficult to get a reservation for, but simmers with the enthusiasm and 'crispness' of the chef. Made infamous by a fly on the wall TV documentary, which displayed more of Gordon Ramsay's volatile temperament than the food, it is still worth trying to get a reservation. Jamie Oliver at The Restaurant at Monte's
Monte's Club 164 Sloane Street London SW1X 9QB Telephone: 020 7245 0896 Jamie Oliver, or the Naked Chef to millions of viewers, has brought his witty cuisine to the refurbished restaurant in top Knightsbridge club Monte's. Mediterranean and home-grown British produce dominate the simple, but flavoursome menu. The public are invited to lunch in the wood-panelled elegance of the restaurant Monday to Saturday. Sadly, it's members only for dinner. Imperial City Chinese Restaurant and Bar (Ken Hom)
Royal Exchange Cornhill London EC3V 3LL Telephone: 020 7626 3437 Beautifully presented food is served at this Chinese eaterie - brainchild of celebrity chef Ken Hom. Situated within the vaulted cellars of the 400 year old Royal Exchange, the sumptuous décor proves the perfect backdrop for his imaginative Oriental cuisine. Don't let the 'city suits' who frequent the joint put you off! The Criterion (Marco-Pierre White)
224 Piccadilly London W1 If the food doesn't knock you out (although its fair to say it will...) the décor is simply stunning. The gold ceilings dominate the venue and are more than complemented by the neo-classical paintings that embellish the marble walls. Marco Pierre White's 'showcase' attracts a suited crowd clamouring for the fabulous French food he regularly serves. Le Gavroche (Michel Roux)
43 Upper Brook Street London W1 A word of warning: fantastic food, fabulous décor and fastidious staff, but sky-high prices to match. If you've got the means, make the most of it and sample the delights of Michel Roux's culinary wizardry. The wine list is renowned as the most extensive (and expensive) in the capital, but you can't put a price on perfection! |
