New Year's Eve TravelIn recent years getting around the city on New Year's Eve has been made simple. Mayor Ken Livingston has again secured a deal with the Transports for London and the Rail and Maritime Union that will see tubes and buses running all night. With free transport all over the city for the entire night, there's no excuse to stay at home. Make the most of the city and start your party by Tube! Don't forget to thank your driver with a friendly wave. Underground Travel on the Underground is once again free between 23:45 and 4:30 in the morning. There'll be plenty of trains up until 2:30 when a skeleton service will take over, with a train every 15mins in Central areas, and every 30mins on the branches, right up until 10:00, when a normal Sunday service takes over. There will be no service on the Waterloo and City line over the New Year period. Central London Station Closures Westminster station will be closed from 21:00 and reopen by 02:00 Embankment and Temple stations will be closed from 23:00 and reopen by 02:00 You will only be able to leave Embankment station via Villiers Street. Please check the map below or follow directions from the police and stewards From 20:00 until 01:00, access to Westminster Bridge will be from south of the river only Pedestrians will not be able to access the Golden Jubilee Bridges after 20:00 Access across the bridges will be reinstated from around 00:30, or when the majority of the crowds have dispersed Buses Buses will be running all night, except in central London after 19:00. There will be a full complement of bus services outside the city centre, as well as some additional routes offering connections with the Underground and rail services. Car From Tuesday 25 December until Tuesday 1 January inclusive, you don't have to pay the Congestion Charge. We don't recommend driving to your party or event, though. Not only can you drink if you use public transport, but travelling to and from central London with crowds of merry revellers is the perfect way to put yourself in a party mood!
