The Low-down


Madame Tussaud's allows free entry for registered disabled.
 
Hampton Court Palace and London Zoo allows carers in without paying admission.
 
A large number of attractions offer concessions for registered disabled.
 
Wheel chair users are advised to check in advance the best entrance to use for easy access.
 
Some attractions loan wheelchairs to visitors - these must normally be pre-booked.
 
Groups of chair users should call venues in advance - there may be special arrangements due to safety regulations.
 
If you are disabled and a frequent traveller to London, join the Royal Opera House's Access List. You will then be entitled to reduced price tickets and better seating.

 
 
In a wheelchair?
Here's some suggestions of good places to go if you are a chair user - there is access to all or virtually all areas and on-site disabled loos: BBC Experience, Buckingham Palace (not Gardens), Design Museum, Guildhall Art Gallery, Imperial War Museum, London Aquarium, London's Transport Museum, National Maritime Museum, National Portrait Gallery, Natural History Museum, Planetarium, Science Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum.
 
 
Deaf/hard of hearing?
There are induction loops/InfraRed systems in the following attractions: Apsley House (sound tours), Jewish Museum, Madame Tussaud's, Museum of London, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Ocean, Tate Modern, Victoria and Albert Museum (seminar/lecture rooms), Westminster Abbey, Westminster Cathedral.
 
 
Travelling with your guide/assistance dog?
The following is a selection of London's top attractions that welcome assistance dogs, and where they may stay with their owners: Chessington World of Adventures, Courtauld Gallery, Jewish Museum, London Planetarium, London's Transport Museum, Madame Tussaud's, National Portrait Gallery, Natural History Museum, Royal Opera House, Science Museum, Tate Britain, Westminster Abbey.
 
 
Visually Impaired?
The following venues provide information on tape/in large print (it may be necessary to request this in advance): Apsley House, BBC Experience, Buckingham Palace, Cabinet War Rooms, London Dungeon, London's Transport Museum, Royal Air Force Museum, Royal Opera House (Braille and large print), St Paul's Cathedral, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre (braille plaques at the start of section), Tate Britain, Tower Bridge Experience, Westminster Abbey.
