World Cup 2006 in London

The World Cup is almost upon us, and for those who haven’t managed to snap up one of the half-dozen or so match tickets actually available to fans, there’s only one place to be: London. The most international city in the world will see thousands of fans of all 32 nations descend upon its pubs and clubs in a riot of national colours, before hitting her thousands of acres of parks to practise their heroes' moves.

For football haters, London is the perfect place as well. In a city this size, there are a thousand ways to get away from the single-minded obsessions of the fans, and we've included a few suggestions on how football widows can chill out and make the most of the month while the fanatics get hot under the collar with footie fever.

Can Wayne survive outside his oxygen tent? Is Sol going to sprint out of the stadium at half-time in the first match and never be seen again? Will Theo Walcott (pictured) break a metatarsal in training and never get to play professional football? The LondonTown.com World Cup feature doesn't answer any of these questions. But it does tell you all the things you need to make the most of Europe’s greatest city during a month-long festival of football.
