London area of E9 guide
What to do and where to stay in London's E9 neighbourhood
There's no shortage of green space in E9 with the East End's secret garden "Vicky" Park and the vast expanse of Hackney Marshes (with its commitment to Sunday footie) in the vicinity. But in the 20th century, the surrounding area of Hackney Wick suffered a loss of identity with much of its industry, and even streets, disappearing. There has been some rejuvenation in recent years as the old industrial warehouses become attractive studio spaces for young artists, but visitors and hotels have tended to stay west; that is, until 2012 when the humongous Olympic Park practically nudges Hackney Wick Station and people will swarm into the area to cheer on the athletes and soak up the atmosphere. Watch this space!
