London area of NW1 guide
What to do and where to stay in London's NW1 neighbourhood
NW1 is the home of the trendy Camden Town, widely regard as London's premier alternative hotspot for indie kids and thrill seekers. The town is located on the London canal network and its industrial heritage has made way for retail, tourism and entertainment, including a number of internationally renowned markets and music venues, ensuring that the region is strongly associated with alternative culture. The Roundhouse, KOKO and the Electric Ballroom, three of London's most popular live music venues, can all be found in the area and, continuing the alternative music theme, the area was once home to The Smiths' front man Morrissey and modern British hip-hop group N-Dubz. Every year in spring The Camden Crawl, a weekend live music event, gets the London festival season off to a flying start, while in August comedy lovers flock to NW1 for the annual Camden Fringe festival.
