London area of SE11 guide
What to do and where to stay in London's SE11 neighbourhood
The residential area of Kennington takes up the majority of SE11 with the large frame of The Kia Oval dominating the skyline. London's second largest cricket ground is the home of Surrey County Cricket Club and traditionally hosts the last England Test match each year in late August or early September. Though its capacity makes it smaller than Lord's in St John's Wood, The Oval's large, shiny OCS Stand makes it stand out amongst the backdrop of inner city London and makes it a foreboding structure. In recent years, Kennington has experienced a modernisation process, driven by the advantages of its location and good transport links to the West End and the City. The area has a range of pubs and some bars though there are no nightclubs of note. However, with the city and Vauxhall are both easily accessible. Kennington has two theatres: the White Bear Theatre and the Oval House Theatre.
