1st Investec Test: England v New Zealand
THIS EVENT ENDED ON THE 20TH MAY 2013
Nearby

By the end of 2013, England's cricketers should be so familiar with all things New Zealand that they'll be filling their burgers with pickled beetroot and fried eggs. If a winter Tour Down Under featuring three (drawn) Tests, three ODIs and three T20s in February and March wasn't enough, New Zealand in turn travel across the world for a summer tour of England boasting two Tests, three ODIs and two T20s. This First Investec Test at Lord's is followed 11 days later by the First NatWest Series ODI at the same venue. The other two London fixtures for the tourists are the back-to-back T20 games at the Kia Oval on 25th and 27th June. New Zealand will then stick around for the ICC Champions Trophy, which is hosted in England and Wales and features five London games (including the opening semi-final) at Lord's. England should enter the two-match Test series as favourites: at the time of writing, Alastair Cook's side are the second best ranked side in test cricket while visitors New Zealand are the second bottom outfit, tailed only by minnows Bangladesh.
About Lord's Cricket Ground
This revered ancient cricket ground has been the site of many a historic victory and many more England batting collapses. While Lord's Cricket Ground has long been seen as the "home of cricket" and the game's spiritual headquarters, its importance does not lie merely in its historic past.
