Stars of comedy, music and dance get together for one night only to commemorate 100 Years of the New Wimbledon Theatre. It's incredible that a century has passed since the 'Grand Old Lady of Wimbledon's Broadway' opened her doors with a performance of the pantomime Jack and Jill. To celebrate this landmark with a special variety night a whole cluster of top stars have enrolled, including the impressionist Alistair McGowan; the writer, comedian and star of Sorry I Haven't a Clue, Barry Cryer; rubber-faced funny man Bobby Davro; sketch supremo Catherine Tate; Jonathan Ross's former musical aides Four Poofs and a Piano; the one-time face of English pop music Gareth Gates; high-pitched gag merchant Joe Pasquale; the evergreen actress and comedienne June Whitfield; ventriloquist Paul Zerdin; musical raconteur Rick Wakeman, actor Ron 'Fagin' Moody; and Britain's Got Talent comedy dancer Stavros Flatley. Money raised will go to the Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund (EABF) and the Wimbledon Civic Theatre Trust (WCTT). Black tie optional. Kevin Bishop directs.About New Wimbledon Theatre
New Wimbledon Theatre opened in 1910 and is housed in a beautiful Grade II listed building. Its opening production was the pantomime 'Jack and Jill' and The Times gave it a glowing review - "For beauty and size Wimbledon Theatre would not disgrace Shaftesbury Avenue".
