Trevor Nunn directs a star-studded cast including West End debutant Rob Brydon (Gavin and Stacey, The Rob Brydon Show), Nigel Harman (EastEnders, Shrek The Musical) and Ashley Jensen (Extras, Ugly Betty) in Alan Ayckbourn's A Chorus of Disapproval at theHarold Pinter Theatre. The Pendon Amateur Light Operatic Society's production of The Beggars Opera is out of control but when young widower Guy (Harman) joins the group, he makes an instant hit with director Dafydd (Brydon) and his wife Hannah (Jensen). The shy wannabe actor soon gets more than he bargained for as romantic rivalry takes centre stage. The show returns to London for the first time since it ran at the National Theatre 25 years ago and is a continuation of Ayckbourn's collaboration with Sonia Friedman productions.
About Harold Pinter Theatre
The Harold Pinter Theatre's 1881 interior is one of the oldest in London and one of the most charming, in spite of the damage wrought by an ill-considered restoration in 1954. The Renaissance-style auditorium, with its wooden panels, and gold ceiling and wallpaper, still retains many original features, while the unpretentious exterior is the most attractive and unspoilt among London's smaller theatres.
