A Disappearing NumberA Disappearing Number returns to the West End for a limited run this September at the Novello Theatre. Complicite's play tells the story of one of the most mysterious and romantic collaborations of all time. In London a man attempts to unravel the secrets of his lover. In Bangalore a woman collapses on a train. In 1914, Englishman G.H Hardy, Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge University, seeks to comprehend the ideas of the Indian prodigy, Srinivasa Ramanujan. A Disappearing Number weaves a provocative theatrical pattern about our relentless compulsion to understand. In its first run, this critically acclaimed play received a number of top awards including the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play (2008), the Evening Standard Award for Best Play and Critics' Circle Award for Best New Play (2007). Now the original cast of Simon McBurney's production are reunited for 19 performances only - audiences are advised to book well in advance.

About Novello Theatre

Built in 1905 to form a pair with the near-identical Aldwych Theatre, the Novello Theatre (formerly known as the Strand Theatre) is one of London's more spectacular theatres and has matching roster of hit shows. An attractive columned exterior gives way to a gorgeous foyer and auditorium, with marble, polished brass and gold the dominant materials and gods and cupids sprawled across every available surface.
