Throughout the World Cup in South Africa Hackney's Rich Mix is hosting their very own Afro Cup Festival celebrating African music, arts, culture, independence and - of course - the beautiful game. All matches will be shown on a huge 10x15ft screen during a 25-day bonanza of live music, DJs, film, art, food and football. Oh, and it's all completely free! A photography exhibition explores the life of homeless children in Cape Town, street art will take place on a 90-foot platform opposite the Bethnal Green venue, and African street food will be available throughout the tournament. Music comes from the likes of Hackney Empire, Hackney Globe Trotter, Aficathy, Next Stop Soweto, South African Funk Experience, Afrikokoa, African Rootmaster, Afrovibrations, Yaaba Funk, Bukky Leo Quintet and much, much more. For a full programme of events go to www.richmix.org.uk/afrocup.
