After Hours: Science UncoveredThe Natural History Museum is throwing open its doors to the public for a unique, one-night-only event. Science Uncovered is a behind-the-scenes look at cutting edge science as visitors are able to explore fascinating topics such as the detective work of the forensics teams and revolutionary new techniques for tracking meteorites. New this year is a live link with NASA, live animals, including the hedgehog-like Madagascan tenrec, and a 3D map of an ancient human burial site. More than 300 scientists use the world class collections at the museum to research global problems such as disease and climate change and this is a unique opportunity to witness the goings on at the museum. Guided tours are on offer, such as the torch-lit tour of the Dinosaurs gallery that will leave children fascinated. Visitors also have the chance to quiz museum experts on their own mystery, natural history objects. After Hours Science Uncovered is part of European Researchers Nights, a Europe-wide festival of science with over 100 cities holding similar events showing how exciting and vital research is to our lives.
