AlchemyReturning for a third year, the Alchemy festival brings a mix of dance, music, talks and debates exploring the rich cultural connections between India, South Asia and the UK to the Southbank Centre. A celebration of music, dance, debate, literature, film, craft and fashion, Alchemy also explores the culture of India, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka and takes a close look at their relationships with and influence on the UK and vice versa. Festival-goers can expect cutting-edge music, a huge range of free workshops, classes and even a Bollywood film - made using the Southbank Centre site as a film set. Highlights include performances from Asian Dub Foundation - who are joined by Nathan 'flutebox' Lee - a boundary breaking collaboration between percussionist Pete Lockett and 14 traditional musicians from Rajasthan, and Indian folk-rock star Raghu Dixit who return to Alchemy following last year's sell-out concert. See www.southbankcentre.co.uk for details on individual times and prices.

About Southbank Centre

The Southbank Centre is a classic example of brutal 60s concrete architecture. Everyone has an opinion (usually negative) on its distinctive design - famous detractors include Prince Charles, who once described it as looking like a "nuclear power station". Yet, if the The West End is the centre of popular culture in London, it is the Southbank Centre that is the centre of true excellence in the arts. More about Southbank Centre
