As well as being one of the leading experts in historic paintings, Alec Cobbe is also a designer, collector, artist and musician. As a tenant of National Trust-owned Hatchlands Park in Surrey he has refurbished the interior, carefully selecting wall coverings and colours to best display the house's art collection and hanging paintings for maximum effect. Cobbe has donated many of his personal archives of drawings, photographs and other art to the V&A, which will be on display, free, in room 74.
