The godfather of shock-rock Alice Cooper concludes the UK leg of his 2009 Theatre of Death World Tour with this date at the Hammersmith Apollo. Fans of the ultimate rock and roll showman won't be disappointed as Alice is subjected to guillotine, gallows and electric chair on his way to being "killed" five times. The tour comes on the back of the 61 year-old's 25th album Along Came a Spider, which tells the story of a serial killer who entombs his female victims in a silk web before removing one of their legs. Funnily enough, when out of the office, Alice Cooper - ne Vincent Damon Furnier - is a golfing celebrity and Christian restaurateur: far cry from his horrific, egocentric, vaudevillian alter ego. Thankfully, Alice stays well clear of new material and runs through his massive back catalogue - so expect classics such as Schools Out, Under My Wheels, Billion Dollar Babies, Poison and Hey Stoopid to figure as well as the fake blood, knife-wielding baby dolls and boa constrictors. Industrial, conceptual, experimental: there are fewer trends in modern music that Alice Cooper didn't anticipate and he remains one of the most enduring rock attractions of all time.
