Hackney resident and the first photographer to have a solo exhibition at the National Gallery, Tom Hunter presents his portraits of traders between Bethnal Green and central Hackney. The in-situ shopkeeper shots create a fascinating picture of the neighbourhood in which the Museum of Childhood resides. Another aspect to the project involved children from local primary schools and adults from Tower Hamlets College interviewing, photographing and drawing shopkeepers and market traders. You can see the resulting installation - a re-interpretation of the market and the corner shop - also in the exhibition.
