Artist Rooms: Louise BourgeoisLouise Bourgeois, the artist whose giant spiders first welcomed visitors to Tate Modern in 2000, is back 16 years later to mark the opening of the new Tate Modern extension. She's the chosen artist for Artist Rooms, housed in a new gallery revealed when Tate's Tanks launches on 17th June 2016. Who can forget the impact of the monumental spider Maman 1999, the first large scale piece commissioned for Tate Modern's Turbine Hall? Now the French-American artist, who was the subject of a Tate retrospective in 2007, returns with an outstanding group of works including Couple I 1996, Cell XIV (Portrait) 2000, Eyes 2001-5, two late masterpieces and a 'cabinet of curiosities' section dedicated to Bourgeois' small sculptures and maquettes.

About Tate Modern

Located along the banks of the River Thames in the former Bankside Power Station, originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in 1947, the architect of Battersea Power Station, Tate Modern opened to great acclaim in 2000. Since then it has welcomed millions of visitors through its imposing doors. More about Tate Modern
