All 10 complete sets of the cult 1960s publication are on display in this exhibition. The rarely seen magazine saw each distinctive issue be produced by a different editor and designer, who would take complete creative control. It included contributions by artists, writers and musicians such as Peter Blake, William S. Burroughs, John Cage, Ossie Clark, Marcel Duchamp, David Hockney and Lou Reed. This exhibition will showcase Andy Warhol and David Dalton's pop art issue, recordings by Yoko Ono and John Lennon, and a psychedelic issue edited by Angus MacLise, the original Velvet Underground drummer.

About Whitechapel Gallery

Designed in a distinctive Arts and Crafts architecture style by Charles Harrison Townsend, the Whitechapel, Britain's first purpose-built arts gallery, is renowned both for the beauty of its light, airy space and for embracing the local community in its work. Founded in 1901, extensive refurbishment saw the gallery, reopened in April 2009, double in size. More about Whitechapel Gallery
