The Bermondsey Carnival takes revellers through the streets of Southwark, celebrating summer with a colourful parade. Starting at Bermondsey Spa Gardens at 12 noon, local schools and community groups taking part in the carnival parade will pass along Grange Road, through The Blue Market and head up Southwark Park Road to finish at Southwark Park. At the park 'The Event' offers further free family entertainment with a day of live music, market stalls and a funfair from 1pm until 10pm. This year's theme for the parade is a Juke Box Journey and local arts group Arts Desire have helped to create the colourful costumes and decorations to tie in with the musical voyage. At the end of the parade, you'll arrive at 'The Event' where you can enjoy live music from Alexander O'Neal supported by The Blockheads and special guests The Bachelors. There's also a 'Green Space' area where recycling ideas are injected with a bit of fun with things like mural making and pedal powered karaoke.
