BridgeFrom Hungerford to Blackfriars, Westminster and Millennium, Bridge looks at how London's bridges have inspired artists and continue to provide inspiration today. Featured artists include James Abbott McNeill Whistler, Charles Ginner, Christopher Richard Wynn Nevinson, and Giovanni Battista Piranesi whose 'A View of Part of the Intended Bridge at Blackfriars' shows the bridge surrounded by scaffolding mid-build in 1766. Adventure photographer, Lucinda Grange, gives a modern day view of the recent redevelopment of nearby Blackfriars Railway Bridge, now the world's largest solar-powered bridge. Also included is Thomas Heatherwick's proposed Garden Bridge which, if approved, would create a leafy pedestrian and cycle crossing from the South Bank to Temple by 2017.

About Museum of London Docklands

In keeping with its waterside location, the Museum of London Docklands focuses on the history of the East End with particular emphasis on the River Thames and the lives that have ebbed and flowed with it. The building in which the museum is housed is pertinent, too. More about Museum of London Docklands
