Carlos Acosta is a phenomenon in the world of modern ballet; he's fresh, contemporary and captivating whilst maintaining the exquisite beauty of classical lines. That's why seeing him take on George Balanchine's neoclassical ballet Apollo about the god's interaction with his three muses is a thrilling prospect. This programme of dance at Sadler's Wells focuses on 'the nature of the male muse in classical ballet' and Acosta also delves into two seminal works by Jerome Robbins, A Suite of Dances and Afternoon of a Faun, the latter a reworking of Nijinsky's original overtly erotic, controversial choreography to Debussy's famous score. Young Apollo, a specially commissioned new work by Adam Hougland to music by Benjamin Britten completes this scintillating evening of dance. As ever, Acosta has gathered a cast of world-class dancers to perform with him as he continues to secure his place as an era-defining artist.About Sadler's Wells Theatre
