Standing alongside A Streetcar Named Desire as one of Tennessee Williams' timelessly exquisite (and Pulitzer Prize-winning) plays, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof follows hot on the heels of the Donmar's sensational production of Streetcar, which left a vivid impression of Williams' skill in getting under the skin of his characters to lay their souls bare. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, arriving at the Novello Theatre from a sold-out run on Broadway, looks set to be another scorcher of rocky relationships and raw emotions that threaten to bubble over as we are plunged back into the human melting pot of the Deep South. American stage greats James Earl Jones and Phylicia Rashad reprise their Broadway roles as Big Daddy and Big Mama, who are the only ones who do not know about the cancer that ravages Big Daddy as their family gathers for his birthday celebration. The headline cast is completed by Adrian Lester and Sanaa Lathan as son Brick and his wife Maggie 'the Cat', their own destructive relationship fuelling the burning tensions at work in Williams' masterpiece.
