Take advantage of the wave of 2012 Olympics euphoria and enjoy Mike Bartlett's stage adaptation of the 1981 Oscar-winning British film Chariots of Fire. Two British athletes, both considered outsiders, endeavour to compete in the 1924 Paris Olympics and overcome their respective tribulations on the path to glory. The production features the original Vangelis score, with additional music by Jason Carr. Directed by Edward Hall.

 

About Gielgud Theatre

From the outside, the Gielgud Theatre is an impressive sight, towering four storeys over Shaftesbury Avenue, its height further emphasized by the turret on top. The interior is also magnificent, with richly-decorated pillars supporting the boxes and lavish Baroque ornamentation. Built in 1906 and known as the Globe Theatre for most of the 20th century, it was renamed after the great actor Sir John Gielgud in 1994. More about Gielgud Theatre
