Children's Illustrated ClassicsChildren and adults alike will delight in discovering how illustrators over the years have interpreted classic childhood tales in Children's Illustrated Classics, a free exhibition at the British Library. Everyone's favourite marmalade loving bear, Paddington, is featured alongside the boy who wouldn't grow up, Peter Pan, and star of current West End musical, Willy Wonka. Classic works including the Just So Stories by British author Rudyard Kipling, Kenneth Grahame's Wind in the Willows and The Hobbit, which JRR Tolkien penned while teaching at Oxford University, are among the childhood stories which have repeatedly inspired generations of illustrators.
