Would you let your kids loose on the nation's art galleries with a clutch of crayons? It may sound like a brave move but actually Children's Art Day is a well-organised way to inspire children to make their own masterpieces. Kids will love this UK-wide event organised with funding from the Clore Duffield Foundation. While details are yet to be finalised, when it last took place in 2007, the thirty or so participating London galleries include such well known establishments as the National Gallery, Royal Academy of Arts and the Horniman Museum. Activities varied from The Foundling Museum's 'Art in the Park' day to creating carnival costumes at Southwark Park to parade through the streets of Bermondsey. Things take a fashionable turn at the Photographers' Gallery with collage and cut-outs inspired by the current exhibition. Thousands of children around the UK will be putting paint and glue to good use and art projects will be organised for both schools and families through events open to the public.
