Christmas with The Rat Pack

For Christmas, The Rat Pack Live rebrands itself as Christmas with the Rat Pack; they simply don Santa hats and add a few festive favourites to their repertoire at Wyndam's Theatre - expect Let it Snow, Let it Snow, White Christmas and a cheeky rendition of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. It's all fabulous fun as this daring concept shows, once again, why it works. The show captures the musical magic and the hilarious camaraderie that made this group of performers giants of the showbiz scene by recreating an evening in the lives of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Junior as they perform and party together. The songs are note perfect and the players, supported by the Burrelli Sisters and The Rat Pack Big Band, succeed in recreating the humour that fizzed between the inseparable friends without delving too deeply into the dark shadows that clouded their lives. This lightness of approach is entirely suitable for a Christmas special, and the spirited script and performances back up the centrepiece songs, which are, of course, terrific.
