Cirque Alfonse: Timber!Opening in July, the Southbank Centre will plays host to the UK premiere of Timber!, a circus show featuring a family from the remote forests of Quebec. With juggling axes, daring aerial acrobatics and stunts with lumberjack saws, this isn't a show for the faint hearted. Throw in a spot of clog dancing, tight-rope walking, cooking, vegetable chopping and storytelling, and it definitely wins the prize for the most random event on the summer's South Bank programme. Presented by circus company Cirque Alfonse, this will be the first UK performance from the Quebecois family, which spans across three generations, and will be set to traditional music with fiddles, a jaw harp, banjos and rowdy singing.

About Southbank Centre

London's hub of cultural arts, The Southbank Centre announced in March 2013 that it's set for a £100 million revamp that will see the 1960s design finally move into the 21st century with a proposal that includes a floating glass pavilion, two more roof gardens, a space for riverside arts and a large pedestrian area.
