Between 1923 and 1929 Samuel Courtauld bought a series of paintings by French post-Impressionist artist Paul Gauguin and in June 2013 the Courtauld Gallery showcases these important art works from the Courtauld's impressive permanent collection. Collecting Gauguin: Samuel Courtauld in the 20s includes major paintings and works on paper as well as one of only two marble sculptures ever created by the artist. Other significant works include 'Martinique Landscape', an important work dating from 1887, and 'Te Rerioa', the last Gauguin painting Courtauld acquired and one of the highlights of gallery's collection.

About The Courtauld Institute Of Art

Manet's 'Bar at the Folies-Bergeres', Van Gogh's 'Self-Portrait with a Bandaged Ear' and Renoir's 'La Loge' are just a few of the celebrated artworks displayed at the Courtauld in the Strand Block of the glorious, 18th century Somerset House. More about The Courtauld Institute Of Art
