The Colonel's Review which takes place at Horse Guards Parade a week before the actual The Queen's official birthday parade is the second of two rehearsal reviews carried out in the weeks before the Trooping of the Colour, held to mark The Queen's birthday. Up to 1,450 soldiers and 400 musicians from the Massed Bands are inspected by His Royal Highness The Duke of York as they parade on Horse Guards and over 240 soldiers line the route down The Mall. You need a ticket for the seated area - apply in advance by sending your ticket requirements to: The Brigade Major, Headquarters Household Division, Horse Guards, Whitehall, London SW1A 2AX. But even if you haven't booked tickets you can still see some of the parade as it passes by St James's Park and The Mall on the way to Horse Guards Parade.
About Horse Guards Parade
Horse Guards Parade is the setting for various military ceremonies throughout the year including the Trooping the Colour which marks the Queen's official birthday. At the heart of Whitehall, it was the traditional entrance to the Royal Palaces and is still guarded by mounted sentries from the Queen's Household Cavalry. More about Horse Guards Parade
