Chocolate eggs, roast lamb for lunch and Easter cakes for tea, Easter is all about eating. Well, if you've managed the forty-day fast you're entitled to a bit of a splurge. A great way to get the kids involved in the cooking is with the help of one of a number of courses around town. At La Cucina Caldesi, for example, the weekend before Easter, on Sunday 16th March, there's an 'Italian Sunday Family Lunch' lesson. Carola and Stefano Borella will take you on a foodie exploration of the nearby Marylebone Farmers' Market. Once you've filled your basket with all the fresh ingredients you can leave the kids to rustle up a three course lunch at the cookery school while you enjoy some more leisurely shopping in Marylebone's pretty streets. Return at lunchtime to enjoy the feast your children have prepared. Alternatively, try Cookie Crumbles (tel 0208 876 9912), cookery classes especially for kids, who are running chocolate themed workshops just after the Easter weekend on 27th March at Maggie & Rose (58 Pembroke Rd, W8 6NX; 10am – 12pm for 4 to 8 year olds, £35; and 2pm – 5pm for 9 to 16 year olds, £50). Whole Foods Market, the organic food emporium in The Barkers Building, 63–97 High Street Kensington, W8 5SE, too, are running Easter-themed events. Though details are yet to be confirmed, they will include their regular Wine Club on Mondays and the Cook with the Chef sessions on Wednesdays as well as workshops using more seasonally relevant ingredients over the Easter weekend.
