Giving Londoners a unique view of some of the city's buildings, the CoolTan Arts Largactyl Shuffle Midnight Walk visits a number of buildings with an unusual design or purpose. With CoolTan Arts being a charity that's run by and for adults with mental health issues, this appropriately named tour (Largactyl is usually spelled Largactil and was the world's first anti-psychotic drug) will look at the mysterious psychological effects that these venues can have on people. Starting outside Tate Modern's Turbine Hall, the walk stops at the Marshalsea, where Charles Dickens's father was imprisoned; the Heygate Estate, a large neo-Brutalist estate which is currently being demolished; Camberwell House, a former asylum; and Cross Bones Cemetery, a disused post-Medieval burial ground that was once an un-consecrated graveyard for sex workers. We weren't lying when we said it was a unique view...The guided walk is 4.8miles and lasts around 4 and a half hours; it's suitable for all ages and walkers can join for as long as they like. Bringing water and snacks is advised but alcohol is prohibited.

About Tate Modern

Located along the banks of the River Thames in the former Bankside Power Station, originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in 1947, the architect of Battersea Power Station, Tate Modern opened to great acclaim in 2000. Since then it has welcomed millions of visitors through its imposing doors. More about Tate Modern
