Dancing around DuchampThis spring, from February to June, the Barbican celebrates Marcel Duchamp with Dancing Around Duchamp, a major cross-arts season which explores the work of the famous French Surrealist artist, his precursors, collaborators and those he influenced in music, dance, theatre, film and art. At the heart of the season is an exhibition at the Barbican Art Gallery, 'The Bride and the Bachelors: Duchamp with Cage, Cunningham, Rauschenberg and Johns', which features over 90 artworks, including some of Duchamp's readymades and iconic works by Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg. The gallery will also host live and recorded performances of music by John Cage and dance by Merce Cunningham. Live shows take place on Thursday evenings and at the weekends; but even at other times the show promises to be a lively experience with soundscapes, and music from a remote-controlled grand piano.

About Barbican Centre

Described by the Queen as 'one of the wonders of the modern world' , the Barbican Centre has also been voted 'London's ugliest building'. Ugly or not, this multi-faceted performance and arts venue is truly wondrous. Open 363 days a year, it offers the most diverse program of any London venue. More about Barbican Centre
