Daniel Weil: The Art of Design
THIS EVENT ENDED ON THE 31ST AUGUST 2014
Nearby

Argentine-born, London-based designer Daniel Weil has made a name for himself with art pieces such as the 1981 'Bag Radio' (a deconstructed radio in a clear plastic bag, currently part of the V&A's permanent collection) and his quirky, fully-functioning clocks such as the Clock for an Astronomer (concentric steel circles orbited by balls representing the hour and minute hands) and the Clock for a Card Player (its digits represented by playing cards). The Design Museum's exhibition of Weil's work features a much-anticipated new series of clocks, alongside other pieces, details of his work for Pentagram (which has included cabins, lounges and uniforms for United Airlines), sources of inspiration and collections of found objects. This cabinet of curiosities will illustrate how designers approach design as well as Weil's own manifesto of 'actions for designers'.
