Professional oddball Dave Gorman brings his Sit Down, Pedal, Pedal, Stop and Stand Up show for a one-off performance at the Hammersmith Apollo. It's an extension of his tour of the same name last autumn, when Gorman actually cycled 1,500 miles across Britain, performing a gig each night for 33 days. Strangely, given both the feat and the show's name, there's barely any mention of his cycling exploits - but that's typically Gorman, always one to do things differently. Gorman made his name with his quirky brand of stunt comedy - with Facebook around, finding another 54 Dave Gormans nowadays wouldn't prove such a task - and the best material from this extended tour is much the same. Gorman relies on pranks, zany ideas, gimmicks and staged material - but it pays off, with The Guardian praising his "down-to-earth cheerfulness and deeply English eccentricity". Impossible to dislike, Gorman may occupy another universe than most people, but at the same time it's his similarity to Joe Bloggs off the street that makes him all the more endearing and funny. Oh, he's not cycling to these shows any more, the lazy bugger.
