Quick witted with a dry sense of humour, David Shrigley has all the components needed to create an amusing and quirky art exhibition. Despite being trained in fine art, the Glasgow based artist deliberately opts for crude and child like pieces which in spite of appearing to be spontaneous doodles, are actually honed with precision to ensure his work is immediately appealing to audiences. Simultaneous to his art work, Shrigley also offers insightful commentary on the absurdities of human relationships, as well as accompanying one liners to complete the rudimentary pieces of work. About The Hayward Gallery
The Hayward Gallery has been the originator or host of influential exhibitions since 1968. It mounts temporary exhibitions of contemporary and historical art. The gallery, named after the late Sir Isaac Hayward, the former leader of the London County Council, is also responsible for National Touring exhibitions and for the Arts Council Collection, which it manages on behalf of the Arts Council of England.
