David Shrigley: Really GoodThe seven-metre-high bronze sculpture of a hand giving a disproportionately long thumbs up, which has the same dark patina as the other statues in Trafalgar Square, is the latest contemporary artwork to take up residence on the Fourth Plinth. David Shrigley's "phallic black bronze" (Guardian) Really Good sculpture was given the thumbs up by the Guardian, describing it as a "gleefully ugly sculpture" which "gives a sarcastic thumbs-up to Brexit Britain". But the best bit about this very public art platform is that everyone becomes an art critic.

About Trafalgar Square

Lord Nelson, Britain's greatest military hero, and the mighty lions that surround him, pay testament to the position of Trafalgar Square at the heart of the capital, the heart of the nation, and, at one time, the heart of an empire that controlled three fifths of the world.
