Death in VeniceIn the year of Benjamin Britten's centenary, ENO will be staging his much admired final opera 'Death in Venice'. Two unspoken themes run throughout the opera: the unrequited love that Aschenbach, an old guest at a Venice hotel, has for the young and athletic Tadzio, and the cholera epidemic that the authorities are desperately trying to keep quiet. The physical decay of the city and the mysterious, sinister characters that Ashenbach meets on his daily travels add up to a haunting theatrical narrative that explores what moral and ethical repercussions can be caused by unarticulated love. Book tickets now to see Benjamin Britten's much-admired opera, Death in Venice at the London Coliseum.
