Ever since man first landed on the moon - with those immortal words, "that's one small step for man... one giant leap for mankind" - there's been much speculation about whether the landmark landing actually happened. Perhaps, some conspiracy theorists argue, the whole thing was an elaborate hoax. At The Hayward Gallery's Project Space, 40 years after the Apollo 11 moon landings, a group of artists have joined together to examine the element of fiction surrounding the momentous event. Through the exhibition, Deceitful Moon, works by British and international artists show how the moon and its exploration could have been caught up in a web of lies. Artists included in the exhibition range from contemporary names like Tom Dale, with comic books by Grant Morrison & Cameron Stewart, alongside images that date back to the sixteenth century with works by printmaker and painter William Hogarth. The far reaching timeline just goes to show that luna mysteries and moon gazing theories have been going on for some time.
