The meaning of memory in the digital age is explored through the Design Museum's Digital Crystal exhibition, a display which includes the works for 15 leading figures in design who have been commissioned by Swarovski crystal in the past decade. Internationally renowned artist, architect and designer Ron Arad is just one of the designers taking part. Through Ron Arad's Lolita chandelier anyone anywhere in the world can take part in the exhibition using Twitter (hashtag #digitalcrystal) or texting +44 (0)7860 021492. Their message will appear in the 1000 LEDs hidden in the crystals of Arad's Lolita, created for Swarovski Crystal Palace in 2004 and completely redesigned for this exhibition. Philippe Malouin's Blur, influenced by the CERN Hadron Collider, spins a Swarovski crystal at speed creating a colourful spectrum of light while design duo Fredrikson Stallard revisit their seminal 2007 Pandora chandelier. Alongside the contemporary works - Maarten Baas, rAndom International, Yves Behar, Troika and Fredrikson Stallard are just some of the 15 designers who have produced new or updated installations for the exhibition - are a selection of pieces from the Swarovski archives, juxtaposing old and new and so highlighting the changes in the digital age.

The annual exhibition which features leading designs from across the world by both emerging and leading artists, designers and architects. Amongst the 90 nominations for this year's contest are the Olympic Cauldron by Heatherwick Studio, The Shard designed by Renzo Piano, Yayoi Kusama's Louis Vuitton collection and Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.
