Eleanor Bergstein's stage adaptation of her hugely successful 1987 film screenplay features all the hits (Hungry Eyes, I've Had the Time of My Life, She's like the Wind) and the famous reassurance that "nobody puts Baby in the corner" that have ensured an all-conquering West End run. Written by Bergstein, Dirty Dancing is based on her experiences as a teenager on a family holiday. She adapted it for the stage after realising that nearly 20 years since coming out it is still the bench mark against which all other chick flicks are measured. A lot of boyfriends and husbands are going to get dragged along to this with gritted teeth, but we defy anybody not to enjoy themselves once the curtain rises and the magic begins: "Come on ladies... God wouldn't have given you maracas if he didn't want you to shake them".

About New Wimbledon Theatre

New Wimbledon Theatre opened in 1910 and is housed in a beautiful Grade II listed building. Its opening production was the pantomime 'Jack and Jill' and The Times gave it a glowing review - "For beauty and size Wimbledon Theatre would not disgrace Shaftesbury Avenue".
