East End Film FestivalThe 16th East End Film Festival takes place every weekend throughout June kicking off with free outdoor screenings at Old Spitalfields Market. Musicals Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and West Side Story are screened as part of Films For Food in support of Tower Hamlets Foodbank (free entry in exchange for a donation of non-perishable food items). Each of the five weekends are programmed to appeal to different audiences. So you can see the world premiere of My Name Is Lenny at Bethnal Green's York Hall and short films by homegrown talent throughout the East End Discovery weekend. At venues across the East End including Castle Cinema, Close-Up, Curzon Aldgate, Electric Cinema Shoreditch and Hackney Picturehouse, the festival hosts expert speakers, film premieres and a massive costumed party as the Twin Peaks Ball takes over Andaz Liverpool Street Hotel.

About Old Spitalfields Market

Nestled in the heart of the city, in the shadow of Christ Church, Spitalfields Market marries market stalls with modern shops and restaurants. Where the delightful old covered market used to be, just off Brushfield Street if you're coming from Liverpool Street Station, you'll find covered market stalls alongside glass fronted shops.
