Back in 2002 we had the Cow Parade but in 2010 it's the turn of the elephants to take over the city. Over 250 brightly painted life-size elephants are taking part in the Elephant Parade London, positioned around the city between May and July. We've spotted several in prominent central London sites at Leicester Square, St James's Park, Green Park and Hyde Park but you can see the entire herd at the Royal Hospital Chelsea from 24th June to 4th July where the grand auction takes place on 3rd July. Alternatively download the full route map by going to the www.elephantparadelondon.org website. Each elephant is decorated by a different artist or celebrity - Alberta Ferretti, Alice Temperley, Lulu Guinness, Julien Macdonald and Diane von Furstenberg are just a few of the designers taking part. It's a fun and colourful outdoor art exhibiton but one that also has a serious message; the campaign is aiming to raise over ?2 million to help the endangered Asian elephant. To that end, all of the elephants are for sale by auction and mini elephants are available at Selfridges, 80 Regent St, 36 Carnaby Street and Greenwich Central Market or at the online shop.Elephant Parade London images
