Ellen Gallagher: AxMEThis summer, Tate Modern presents the UK's first major solo exhibition of the work of Ellen Gallagher, one of the most acclaimed contemporary artists to have emerged from North America since the mid-1990s. A twenty-year career has seen Gallagher bring together imagery from myth, nature, art and social history to create complex works in a wide variety of media, including painting, drawing, relief, collage, print, plasticine, sculpture, film and animation. The exhibition includes key works such as 'Bird in Hand 2006', the film installation 'Murmur 2003-4' as well as new work shown to the public for the first time.

About Tate Modern

Located along the banks of the River Thames in the former Bankside Power Station, originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in 1947, the architect of Battersea Power Station, Tate Modern opened to great acclaim in 2000. Since then it has welcomed millions of visitors through its imposing doors. More about Tate Modern
