The award-winning international sensation Ennio Marchetto returns with his special Christmas show at the Southbank Centre this December. The legendary quick-change artist uses origami techniques as he morphs into exaggerated forms of popular icons, from the Mona Lisa to Madonna, Pavarotti to Eminem, Celine Dion to the Titanic, using paper and cardboard costumes. It all started back in the late 80s when Marchetto, who used to mend espresso machines for his father in Venice, had a vision, made a paper dress and started lip-synching to Marilyn Monroe in front of the mirror. He soon took Italy by storm before making an international name for himself at the Edinburgh Festival. He now has a repertoire of more than 350 characters that come out to play in his whirlwind of a show ("Wonderful, wickedly funny" - The Observer). Backed by an eclectic soundtrack and popular classics, Ennio brings old favourites as well as new characters to the stage in this special Christmas show, morphing from Susan Boyle to Lady Gaga and from Amy Winehouse to Michael Jackson. No celebrity is safe - including Father Christmas!
